The Kade Consultancy

The Kade Consultancy offers SpLD assessments, reports and neurodiversity inclusion training in the workplace and is the sister brand of The Educational Guidance Service, which provides SpLD assessments for students.

How an SpLD can affect your ability to work

Neurodiversity / Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), such as Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia can impact a person’s working role in various ways. Factors affected can include communication, accuracy and speed of work and relationships with colleagues.

Kade consultancy provide assessments which explore underlying reasons as to why individuals may be facing challenges in the workplace and help to support them within their role.

Why should you consider an assessment?

Our team of experienced psychologists can work with an individual to provide a detailed evaluation of their strengths, areas for development and if evidenced, diagnose SpLD. It may also be possible to screen for conditions such as ADHD and ASC. The psychologist will use the individual’s assessment profile, as well as information about their working role and environment, to create a bespoke set of recommendations / reasonable adjustments. This aims to help the individual and manager/organisation provide support within the workplace, promote self-understanding and reduce the challenges faced day to day.

The assessment procedure

The assessments can be delivered in a face to face setting or remotely and will typically take between 2 and 3 hours (flexibility is available to accommodate needs). The assessment is likely to include:

  • An in-depth discussion with regards to the individual’s working role, environment and factors that have led to the assessment.
  • An assessment of core literacy skills and other skills relevant to the job role.
  • An assessment of cognitive skills – language, information processing, retention of information.

The psychologist will use this information to highlight strengths and areas for development and diagnose SpLD, if there is evidence. This will be discussed with the individual and appropriate recommendations and adjustments will be suggested. The individual will receive a written report documenting the information discussed.

How much will it cost?

The price for a diagnostic assessment starts from £424.00.  Please note this price may vary subject to requirement.

The Report

The report will take approximately 5 – 6 weeks to be completed and sent out. It will contain a summary of the assessment session, the assessment outcome and suggestions for adjustments to support the individual. This report enables an individual or an employer to discuss any recommendations made by the psychologist and form a plan for implementation. The recommendations may include:

  • Ensuring their employee or the person they nominated to see the report is aware of the individual’s difficulties.
  • Specialist support to help develop strategies to overcome difficulties.
  • Considerations such as flexible working hours and written instructions for tasks.
  • Assistive Technology such as organisational software, speech-to-text software, and mind-mapping tools.

Development Coaching

Once the diagnostic assessment has taken place it is essential that the individual is appropriately supported. As not all individuals are affected by SpLD / neurodiversity in the same way and as roles and responsibilities vary, it is important to take a tailored approach.

We offer one-to-one coaching to develop skills and encourage behavioural change. At the heart of our coaching is the recognition and maximisation of the skills that the individual has demonstrated. This can be particularly helpful where there is a new diagnosis and also to address any concerns with work. Visit our dedicated coaching page to find out more.

Access to Work

Access to Work (ATW) is government funding intended to cover the extra costs of having a disability or long-term condition. If you or someone in your team has been identified with a SpLD, once you have received the completed diagnostic report, an application for Access to Work can be made. For more information about what it covers and who is eligible, please follow the link to the Government website here.
